.bg domain property change

The domain names with .bg expansion could be transferred from one to another. The name of that procedure is called “Change of property”. You could change property of a domain name that is under ICN.Bg’s control and of a one that’s outside of our database.

Registration transfer of a domain, supported by ICN.Bg

When transferring the property of a domain name, which is already controlled by ICN.Bg, you have to pay a tax of 14,40 BGN including VAT. It is important to know that the domain name’s validity period is not affected. Meaning that even if you transfer the property several months before the domain expiry, you won’t lose the remaining period.

Filling a Letter of attorney for changing the ownership of a domain name, supported by ICN.Bg

In order to transfer the ownership of a .bg domain name , the current registrant of the domain must fill a letter of attorney in which he proves his will to transfer the ownership of the domain name, appointing the new future owner. The attorney letter could be downloaded from here. The information in the document is filled and then signed by the current registrant. In order to keep its legal value and validation the letter of attorney must be filled by one of the following methods:

  • At ICN.Bg’s office, carrying your ID card with you Sofia town ( If the letter of attorney is issued by a legal entity you must bring the seal of your business organization );
  • With digital signature ( In this case if the request is from a legal entity, then the digital signature must be from the owner of the organization. And if the request is made by an individual, then the signature has to be personal for the applicant.) The document has to be signed as: attached signature with expansion p7m.
  • with courier/post – the document has to be notarized and sent to the following address:

Filling the letter of attorney as the new Registrant

The letter of attorney is signed by the future registrant and by doing so, he authorizes ICN.Bg to support and control the domain name in Register.Bg’s system, as well as allowing ICN.Bg to present him in front of the main registrar. The document has to be signed and submitted by one of the methods shown above.

Registration transfer / change of domain ownership, which is not supported by ICN.Bg

When doing a domain registration transfer, which is not currently operated by ICN.Bg we follow the steps in the exact order. First we transfer the domain name to our database, then the process continues into changing the ownership of the domain. In this case it is important to note, that you lose the rest of domain’s activity period in that transfer.

A declaration is made by the current owner of the domain name, confirming that he‘s willing to transfer the domain name. You can download and look up the declaration from here.

Submitting a letter of attorney as the current owner

When changing the ownership of a domain name, which is not managed by ICN.Bg, the domain name is transferred to our database, where it loses it’s activity period. A domain transfer fee of BGN 57,90 (including VAT) has to be payed, that includes the renewal of the domain name for one year. The standard fee for changing the ownership of a domain name is also paid – BGN 14,40 (including VAT).

Submiting the letter of attorney as the new domain name owner

After the transfer of ownership of the domain name, the new owner authorizes ICN.Bg to continue supporting and controlling the domain. The letter of attorney can be downloaded from here. The document has to be signed and submitted by one of the methods shown above.
